Discipleship is the heartbeat of New Life Baptist Church. We are passionate about investing truth into other people and watching them grow in the grace and the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Discipleship is designed to bring the believer further along in their faith, develop character, and establish relationships. It gives the disciple a firm foundation of doctrinal truth. The disciple then matures to the point that they can fulfill 2Timothy 2:2.
The four goals of discipleship are to:
- Establish the disciple in the membership of the local church.
- Establish the disciple in the fellowship of other believers.
- Establish the disciple in the word of God.
- Establish the disciple in ministry within the local church.
The disciple is matched with another believer with common interests to study 16 lessons that are foundational to our faith. Discipleship can be done one-on-one or couple-to-couple.
The 16 discipleship lessons are:
- Salvation
- Eternal Security
- The Ordinances
- The Holy Spirit
- The Word of God
- Prayer
- The Will of God
- The Local Church
- Other Christians
- Giving
- Money and Possessions
- Dealing with Sin
- Liberty in Christ
- My Job and Employer
- The Lost World
- The Judgment Seat of Christ
The disciplers teach the material and impart their heart and life into the disciple. Discipleship involves actively engaging in fellowship and ministry, along with Bible study. The purpose of discipleship is transformation over a mere transfer of information. The desired result is reproduction.
